✨ How to Prepare for Your Tattoo Session Like a Pro ✨
Getting a tattoo is more than just showing up—it's a sacred collaboration, and the way you prepare makes a world of difference. Whether it's your first time or your fifteenth, here's how to walk into your appointment feeling confident, calm, and ready to make magic.
1. Rest Up & Hydrate
Tattoos are physical! A good night’s sleep in the days leading up to your tattoo session helps your body handle the session better. Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of—hydrated skin takes ink more smoothly and heals faster.
2. Eat a Solid Meal
Come to your appointment with a full belly. Low blood sugar can cause dizziness, nausea, or even fainting during long sessions. High-protein meals and healthy carbs are your best friends. Complexed carbs like sweet potatoes or wild rice can help feel sustained for longer in the tattoo session. Bringing snacks is always a good idea. We have a fridge if you need to keep something cool.
3. Dress Smart
Wear clean, comfortable clothes that allow easy access to the area being tattooed. Think loose, breathable, and dark-colored—ink stains are permanent! Layers are great in case you get chilly. Its common for our feminine clients to have bikinis on under their outer clothes in case of any challenging access issues your clothing may present.
4. Avoid These Before Your Appointment
No alcohol or drugs 24 hours before—these thin your blood and can affect how your skin handles ink. If not deplete you and make you feel worse after a large tattoo.
No aspirin, ibuprofen, or blood thinners unless medically necessary (check with your doctor first). Please remind us of any medications you are taking- yes they can interact with your tattoo.
No tanning, sunburns, or skin treatments on the area—we need healthy skin to work on!
Do not bring visitors uninvited. Yes this is your tattoo session, but extra people in the room may create logistical hazards. Ask First.
Do not use topical numbing creams. If you absolutely need something- ask your artist first. We will send you home and not tattoo you. The risks of uncontrolled products are seriously a threat.
Have a change in your recent health? Communicate this with your artist. Medication changes, skin changes, or other internal medical changes can impact how your work heals. In order to ensure you get the value of your investment- check in with your artist. We want to keep you safe, comfortable and able to enjoy your tattoo for life.
5. Bring the Essentials
✔ A charged phone & headphones (we have charging ports too)
✔ Snacks & water (especially for long sessions)
✔ A blanket or pillow if you want extra comfort
✔ Entertainment: books, podcasts, playlists, or a movie for longer appointments
✔ An open mind and good energy—we're creating something meaningful together!
6. Don't Be Shy—Ask Questions
My goal is to make sure you're informed, comfortable, and excited. If you’re unsure about anything—placement, healing, pain, aftercare—just ask. That’s what consultations and chats are for.
