Building the Tattoo of Your Dreams—Even If You Don’t Know What You Want Yet

One of the most common things I hear from potential clients is, “I want a tattoo… but I don’t know exactly what I want yet.”

That’s okay. In fact, that’s one of my favorite types of client to work with.

As a tattoo artist with years of experience turning uncertain ideas into unforgettable art, I’ve developed a process that invites even the pickiest, most indecisive person to feel confident, excited, and engaged through the entire tattoo journey. Whether you're full of questions or starting from a blank slate, my job is to help you find clarity—and create something that fits your vision, your style, and your budget.

It All Starts with a Chat

We begin with a Tattoo Chat Consult, which can happen via text, email, or phone—whatever’s most comfortable for you. This is where you tell me everything you’re thinking (or not thinking!). Some clients come in with a photo, a Pinterest board, or a vague memory of a tattoo they once saw. Others just know they want something meaningful, or cool, or “not boring.”

You don’t need to know the difference between neotraditional and fine line, or whether you want color or blackwork. That’s what I’m here for. During this chat, I’ll ask questions that help me get to know you—what you like, what you don’t, where the tattoo might go, and how you want it to make you feel. This is not a rushed process. It’s a collaborative conversation meant to spark creativity and narrow down the possibilities in a way that feels exciting, not overwhelming.

Style Discovery and Image Sourcing

Once I understand your general vibe and vision, we move into what I call Style Discovery and Image Sourcing. Think of this as mood-boarding your tattoo life. I’ll send you images, ask for your reactions, and help you develop a visual language for your piece.

Are you drawn to the elegance of minimalism? The power of bold traditional work? The whimsy of illustrative tattoos? Or do you love realism, but you’re not sure if it’s right for your skin tone or pain tolerance?

I break down style options in plain language and pair them with examples to help you understand what each type of design will look like on the skin—and how it will age over time. You won’t have to make these decisions alone. I’ll guide you, gently but honestly, toward the best match for your idea, anatomy, and future lifestyle.

In-Person Planning Sessions for Complex Work

If your tattoo is larger, part of a series, or highly detailed, I’ll invite you in for an In-Person Planning Session. This is where we get really strategic. We’ll go over placement, sizing, the flow of the body, and how the design can work with or around existing tattoos (if you have any). For cover-ups, I use advanced techniques to rework the old into something entirely new—always with transparency about what’s realistic and what’s not.

This is also when we talk about your budget and your scheduling preferences. I don’t believe in hidden fees or unrealistic expectations. I offer a pay-as-you-go model and help break big projects into affordable, manageable sessions.

You’re Involved Every Step of the Way

You don’t just show up and get tattooed—you co-create. I share sketches, talk through changes, and check in regularly to make sure we’re still aligned. This is your body, your story, and your art. I’m here to bring the technical skill, design eye, and industry knowledge—but you’re the heart of the process.

My most satisfied clients are the ones who felt seen, heard, and empowered from the very first conversation to the final needle pass. And that’s exactly what I strive to provide.

Designed for First-Timers and Seasoned Collectors

Whether this is your very first tattoo or your fortieth, you deserve a process that honors your individuality. I’ve worked with long-time collectors refining their body suit concepts, as well as people getting their very first piece to commemorate something deeply personal. No matter where you’re starting, I offer a white-glove, pressure-free, education-forward experience that makes getting tattooed something to look forward to—not stress over.

Let’s Start Your Tattoo Journey

If you’ve been sitting on the fence, waiting for the “perfect” idea to strike—let’s talk. Perfection isn’t something you wait for; it’s something we build together.

Reach out to book a Tattoo Chat Consult and take the first step toward a tattoo that feels like you—designed with intention, guided with care, and inked with experience.
